The
river otter, Lutra canadebsis, is a member of the weasel family and grows
up to 4 feet long. It lives in rivers and streams and feeds on
fish and frogs
The
white tail deer, Odocoileus virginianus, grows up to 40 inches
tall, has a gray coat in the winter, and a reddish coat in the summer. It feeds
on vegetation and acorns and is common.
The striped skunk, Mephitis mephitis, is black with white stripes and
grows to 28 inches long. It feeds on insects and vegetation and is common.
The opossum, Didelphis virginiana, is light gray with a white face and
grows up to 20 inches long. It feeds on insects, fruit, and vegetation and is a
marsupial.
The red fox, Vulpes fulva, is red with a white belly and grows up
to 2 feet long. It feeds on rodents and is less common than the gray fox.
The gray fox, Urocyon cinereoargenteus, is light gray and grows up to 2
feet long. It feeds on rodents and is common.
The eastern cottontail rabbit, Sylvilagus floridanus, is light gray with
a cottony-white tail and grows up to 17 inches long. It feeds on vegetation and
is common.
The
gray squirrel, Sciurus carolinensis, is gray with a white belly, grows up
10 inches long, and has a long bushy tail. It feeds on acorns and vegetation and
is common around oak trees.
